Stand Up Paddleboards

Our range of stand-up paddleboards draws inspiration from Australia's unique geography, paying homage to some of its most famous beaches. With more than 10,000 beaches, the country is renowned for its vibrant coral reefs, colorful beach boxes, and breathtaking sunsets.

The Honu Evolution series focuses on simplicity while incorporating the most advanced materials and construction methods available today. Our X-woven and Fused drop-stitch materials are around 20% lighter than comparable double-layer boards, while also being more rigid and higher performing.

Our boards have been tested by media outlets such as SUP Boarder Mag, where they have been recognized as the lightest and stiffest in their class. In fact, the Sorrento is one of the lightest boards ever tested, with only one other SUP testing slightly better, but weighing 3KG (6.6lbs) more, making the Sorrento the lightest and stiffest SUP ever tested. This is something we're incredibly proud of. Honu Sorrento

About Honu Stand Up Paddleboards

Honu may seem like a new brand to some of our recent customers, but in reality, it has been around for over 20 years. In 2019, new leadership took over the company, which led to Honu reverting back to a startup status. This decision resulted in the development of all products from scratch, using new materials, designs, and construction techniques. Even the existing distribution partners were replaced. Despite Honu's age, it is currently a scrappy upstart in the paddleboard market, pushing boundaries in quality and performance. The outcome of our re-launch is what you are seeing today. We made a conscious decision to prioritize performance and produce high-quality products with a longer lifespan to reduce waste in landfills. Our basic principle is simple: if we can make it better, we do.

What Customers Love about Honu Paddleboards

Our customers have shown a great love of our newly launched range of high-performance, lightweight boards. We are proud to promote the weight of our boards is one of their key features. At Honu, we manufacture the lightest boards in their respective categories, making them easy to maneuver, paddle, and transport on car racks. Despite their lightweight nature, our boards do not compromise on performance, which sets them apart from others in the market. Additionally, they are also the stiffest or equal in stiffness to the most rigid boards available, making them an excellent choice for experienced and novice paddlers alike. It's worth noting that our boards are 4.7 inches thick, which is less than the standard 6 inches (excluding the Sorrento). Therefore, Honu SUPs are:

- Lightweight

- High performing

- Thinner than most boards

Why is 4.7" Better than 6"?

Many customers often wonder why our paddleboards are thinner compared to other boards available in the market. The answer is quite simple: thinner boards offer improved balance and stability because the rider is closer to the water level, which is the point of movement. While most paddleboards have a thickness of 6 inches, we believe that a thinner board is more advantageous and beneficial for our customers. We have the ability to craft our boards thinner, while still maintaining a hardboard-like feel.

So why are most boards 6 inches?

It's a simple fact that cheaper materials and construction methods are often used to make inflatable boards. Most boards need to be 6 inches deep to maintain stiffness in the water, but with our X-woven material and triple-bonded rails, we can use thinner material to achieve the same level of performance. Honu, along with a few other high-end brands, offer this level of performance.

Why Doesn't Honu iSuP Package Include a Paddle?

We have decided not to include a default paddle in our SUP package to ensure that our customers get exactly what they want. In our experience, regardless of the style or quality level we choose, around 30% of people wouldn't want what was included, another 30% would use it even if it isn't quite right, and around 40% would feel like the paddle is perfect for them. This doesn't align with our goal of ensuring that our customers love every bit of kit they purchase from us, which is why we give you the option to choose your preferred paddle.

If you already have a paddle that you love, simply grab the board with the bag, pump, and accessories. If you want to keep the package price down with something good but affordable, go for an Element Paddle. And if you appreciate high performance and low weight, then the Evolution series paddle is the way to go.

By giving our customers a choice, they can choose what they want and not risk paying for something they don't need.

Our Most Popular SUP- Honu Byron

The Byron 10'6 paddleboard has gained worldwide popularity due to its lightweight construction, rigid feel, and stable performance on the water. The 2023 version of the Byron comes with significant improvements, including a superior backpack that features a soft padded waist belt for comfortable carrying on longer walks to secluded paddleboarding locations. Moreover, the board now has a split fin-box system that enhances its ability to roll up and makes it more versatile. With these upgrades, the Byron is the perfect paddleboard for various water conditions.

Our inflatable SUPs are only 4.7" thick, making them more responsive to the water's movements compared to a standard 6" board. Made with our advanced X-Woven & Fused drop-stitch material, they feature triple-bonded rails for maximum durability. Stay connected to the water with this top-quality board.

If you're planning a flatwater cruise with your furry friend or engaging in SUP yoga and a calming paddle, the Byron is an excellent choice for you. And if you're looking to catch some nearby waves, you can definitely count on the Byron. Check out the Honu Byron
